This page has been an embarassingly long time coming. I did the bulk of the research
for this project in November 2023, 1-3 weeks after the game released worldwide.
That was mainly focused on finding and saving as many of those images as I could,
and keeping notes for each including image source URL (the link to the image itself) as well
as the URL of the page I found it on. I also plugged in the URLs to save most of those
webpages in the Wayback Machine (at web.archive.org/save), but regrettably not all of them,
I did miss a couple, but it's not a big deal for the most part.
So, I did that for a couple weeks, and then ran out of steam.
Then in the two and a half years since, I've been on-and-off
working on this web page. It's kind of a pain in the ass to
put together a page this dense with information by hand.
But it wasn't really enough to justify automating it via python script,
which I totally could've done, so y'know.
Interestingly, even at the time of initial research, some webpages were already dead links,
and not archived by the Wayback Machine, but which were fortunately still available in
Microsoft Bing's web page cache.
(Remember when that was still available, alongside Google's? Good times. Greedy bastards.
Can't let us have one single nice thing. I mean FFS. But I digress...)
You'll see one or two of those down below, where the source URL I've provided is to a
Wayback Machine capture of the Bing web cache version of a webpage.
Kinda funny to think about.
Anyways,
The main focus of this project is the official images
(or in some cases, the closest I could find to what you would call "official").
I've mostly refrained from including photos (that falls outside the scope of this project),
except in cases where most/all official listings were only using photos,
and not the official promo renders or whatever.
I've tried to find and gather the highest-quality and highest-resolution
versions of each image presented here.
And considering this blog post's position as a source of documentation,
I've included all of the alternate versions of each image that I found,
and meticulously noted the source URLs for each and every one.
So I apologize for the redundancy.
It was certainly necessary in the research stage, and my goal here was
always to present my research mostly without editorializing.
I would also like to say, I'm not 100% confident of all of the specific information
regarding each item; for many of them I had one or two information sources
that mention them, and they're not in English, so I had to rely on Machine Translation...
But I can attest to the authenticity of every single image here.
Notes on how to use this page:
- If you're just looking for the highest-quality version of each image, you can copy/paste the image displayed at the top of each item's dedicated section.
- For each image in the "Gallery" section of an item, this page is only displaying a low-resolution preview version, and you can left-click on the image to see the original.
- Each item has its own "References" section, with its own isolated References list. I know this is improper, at least in Wiki-style standards, but it's the best way I found to keep the References list sane.
- If you're looking at any of these images and comparing them, please remember: the bigger (higher-resolution) image is not always highest-quality one visually. Etc, etc.
- To fellow researchers, I'm gonna publish a 7z file with all of the images soon.
